Term
Reduction of blood neutrophil (granulocyte) count, leading to increased susceptibility to bacterial and fungal infection. Acute, severe neutropenia due to impaired production is often life-threatening. Characteristics - fever, fatigue, sore throat, buccal ulcers, dyspnea, tachycardia. Usual course - acute.
